Moy Park has always been guided by the principle of doing the right things, to minimise our impact on the environment and to work in partnership with our stakeholders.

In doing business and in our stewardship of resources we are committed to acting both responsibly and sustainably, and across Moy Park we have taken an active approach to managing and reducing our environmental impact, including:

reducing energy usage and the resultant greenhouse gas emissions;

decreasing water consumption and the discharge of effluent; and

recycling or diverting waste away from landfill.

Moy Park's Corporate Environmental Targets are:

- Total energy: 2% Year on year relative improvement

- Water: 1% Year on Year relative improvement

- Waste: Maintain zero waste to landfill

Our processing facilities, hatcheries and mills all operate an Environmental Management System (EMS) which will be externally certified to, or will be in alignment with, ISO 14001 standard. This EMS encompasses the relevant environmental aspects and sets out the sites' and improvement plans, and monitors progress towards these to continually improve our environmental footprint performance. The average gCO2/km of our fleet cars has reduced by 18% since 2012.

Moy Park has proudly achieved the ambitious goal of sending zero waste to landfill across all 12 manufacturing sites and agricultural base throughout the UK and Europe. This goal was achieved in 2014 and announced on World Environment Day.

To demonstrate Moy Park's public commitment to environmental sustainability the business was the first poultry company to sign up to the Courtauld Commitment 2 to reduce packaging, household food waste, and reduce product and packaging waste in the supply chain. We are also a signatory of the Federation House Commitment. Moy Park participates in the EU ETS emissions reduction scheme as well as the Climate Change Agreement Scheme across industrial and agricultural sectors.

Moy Park has achieved a top 'Platinum' level result from Business in the Community's ARENA Network environmental benchmark, the leading independent accreditation of its kind for Northern Ireland companies.
