Social and Environment Responsibility

Certification: External Recognition

We aim to better meet the expectations of our customers, our employees and our partners. From 2003, we began to certify our management systems and commitments.

Our company is certified today with:

  • ISO 9001 for our quality management system,
  • ISO 14001 for our environmental management system,
  • FSSC 22000 for our food safety management system,
  • OHSAS 18001 for our health and safety management system.

People Safety Is At The Heart Of Our Business

We have always paid special attention to the health and safety of our employees.

To reduce the risk of MSD (musculoskeletal disorders) of our employees, we made significant investments in 2005 and 2012. These have helped to significantly reduce repetitive tasks for packaging operatives.

To demonstrate our commitments to Health & Safety at work, we decided in 2015 to complement our ISO certification with OHSAS 18001. Health & Safety related actions are third party audited and verified, in the same manner as our commitments to food safety and environment.

An Environmentally Aware Business

After a first carbon footprint study (Bilan Carbone®) in 2006, we carried out a Life Cycle Analysis of our beef patties in 2010, to assess the environmental impact of our business and beef production, and thus to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

We have since measured progress through a second carbon footprint study carried out in 2015: investments to modernize our production facilities have achieved an almost 60% reduction of our emissions per beef patty produced.

Additionally, we support the work of the beef sector to better understand the environmental impact of beef production, and to define improvement plans. For this, we participate in the work initiated by the Institute of Livestock or INRA.

A first precise inventory of the environmental impacts across the sector was achieved in 2010, via a Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) of ground beef based on a representative sample of our suppliers.

On this basis, Moy Park Beef Orléans and McDonald's France approached the Institute of Livestock to contribute to the development of a tool (called " CAP'2ER "), which allows farmers to assess their environmental impact and identify action plans. This tool is being deployed in a network of 50 volunteer farms. Ultimately, it is intended to be made available to the entire beef industry, to lead all players in a better understanding of the environmental impact of farming and the extent of progress.

The Result Of Long Term Initiatives

The successful outcome of a long term initiative: since 2010, 100% of the waste generated by Moy Park Beef Orléans is recycled or recovered.
