Members from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue and Moy Park's Operations and Health, Safety & Environment management teams joined forces for a unique training exercise to test responses and procedures of dealing with a major incident.
Taking place at leading food company Moy Park’s factory in Grantham, participants included Lincolnshire County Council, the Environment Agency, Lincolnshire Police, East Midlands Ambulance Service and Public Health England amongst others. Together, the teams were tasked with practical exercises including scenario based assessments, with local fire crews descending on the site and simulating emergency incidents.
Simon Aldous, Health, Safety & Environment Manager at Moy Park, commented:
"We were really pleased to work alongside Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue in this training exercise. The safety of our employees and the local community is of paramount importance to Moy Park and we are grateful to the expert advice and guidance from the local fire and rescue team, to ensure our health and safety procedures continue to be of the highest standards.”
Mark Housam, Deputy Divisional Commander (PPOR) South Division, added:
“Although it is unlikely that a fire would occur at Moy Park, national and international incidents have recently shown us the importance of food processing plants testing their emergency response procedures, to assure the safety of their staff and the local community.
“Routine exercises like this enable us to test out the ability to deal with large scale incidents and highlight areas where we can adapt out practices to deliver a more efficient service in the future.”
