Hundreds of local families ‘flocked’ to Murray’s Farm in Aghalee, Craigavon to discover first-hand how food is produced as part of the Bank of Ireland ‘Open Farm Weekend’ celebrations.
As well as providing visitors with live entertainment, tractor rides and a BBQ, poultry farmer and Moy Park supplier Gareth Murray spoke to guests about farming, animal husbandry and how food is produced. Through a special viewing gallery, visitors also got to see the inside workings of a busy poultry farm and meet some baby chicks while learning how they are cared for.
John Harrison, Moy Park NI Broiler Manager said:
“We were delighted to welcome so many guests to Murray’s Farm in celebration of Open Farm Weekend. The event is a great opportunity for local families to learn more about Northern Ireland’s food and farming industry, and to showcase the excellent work being carried out by our farming partners.”
