Moy Park has won two coveted accolades at the 2016 Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Occupational Health and Safety Awards. The firm was crowned the overall Food and Drink Health & Safety Award winner for the second year in a row in recognition of its outstanding health and safety performance, and also won a Gold Award for Fleet Safety.
Celebrating its 60th year, the sought after RoSPA Awards are presented to businesses and organisations which demonstrate an industry leading commitment to health and safety, and accident prevention. Judges consider entrants’ overarching occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.
Moy Park was applauded for its commitment to delivering world-class safety performance standards. Many of its sites have achieved over one million hours without a lost time incident, with the company’s Anwick site reaching a major health and safety milestone of three million hours since its last lost time accident.
Mike Mullan, Moy Park Executive Director said:
“It’s a great honour to be named the UK’s leading food and drink company for outstanding occupational health and safety performance for the second year in a row, and to receive a Fleet Safety Gold Award in recognition of our excellence in managing road risk. The safety of our people is a number one priority at Moy Park with risk assessment, accident prevention and monitoring embedded in our teams and at an individual level across all our operations. We are delighted that our health and safety performance is worthy to be recognised once again and we will continue to work together to drive our industry leading safety practices.”
Julia Small, RoSPA’s Head of Awards and Events, said:
“To win an award at such a highly-regarded event as the RoSPA Awards is a great achievement for Moy Park. It recognises their commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record and raises the bar for other organisations to aspire to. We offer them our congratulations. This year was doubly special for our winners as their achievements were recognised as the RoSPA Awards celebrated its diamond anniversary, which is a ringing endorsement of the thousands of businesses and organisations that have committed to continuous improvement in accident and ill-health prevention.”
