Barnardo’s Northern Ireland has been awarded £15,000 in funding by Moy Park.
The funds, which the charity received from the £1 million Community Support Fund Moy Park established in 2020 to support organisations local to its operations across Europe will be put towards a series of family events in schools and local communities.
Barnardo’s Northern Ireland works to protect, support and nurture vulnerable children and families across Northern Ireland. The charity delivers a wide range of services from providing family support and early intervention, to working directly with children and families who have experienced adversity and need support.
Michele Janes, Director of Barnardo’s Northern Ireland said:
“We were delighted to receive this generous donation from the Moy Park Community Fund and really appreciate all the support we have received. The funding from Moy Park has made it possible for Barnardo’s NI to run a series of Family Learning events in schools in our local communities, which will help support families as they engage with their children’s learning, help nurture a positive home learning environment and encourage families to become more involved in their local community. This work is even more important now as we emerge from the pandemic and see its impact on children’s learning.
“The first of these events took place in Ballykeel Primary School, Ballymena. The event for parents and children helped them to learn together about the body’s responses to stress, providing them with tips and strategies around how to manage this and resources for summer activities at home.
“We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Moy Park for their continued support and generosity.”
