Leading food company, Moy Park has awarded funding to Newmills Wildlife Gardening Club. The group received the grant from Moy Park’s Community Support Fund, established in 2020 to support organisations local to its operations across Europe.
The funds will go towards the development of a local art project, engaging with young people in the area and enhancing the area as a shared space for all.
Elements of the new project include working with a local artist to complete an art commission and work alongside young people to paint a bus shelter situated within the community garden, as well as re-developing already established art pieces in the garden and working with young people to design and install a unique sundial feature.
Commenting on the support, Andrew Griggs, the group’s Chairman said:
“We are delighted to receive this fantastic support from Moy Park through their Community Support Fund. With the funding, we will be able to continue to develop the Newmills Community Garden and develop a range of activities that help make positive contributions to local wildlife, have positive impacts on the health and well-being of local people and instil a sense of community spirit and pride in the area whilst allowing access to a local green space and volunteering opportunities for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds".
