Moy Park Inspire Future Entrepreuneurs

Northern Ireland’s leading business education charity, Young Enterprise NI, has teamed up with Moy Park to inspire Primary six pupils from schools across the Ballymena area to get involved in business and enterprise.

The ‘Moy Park Challenge’, in its first year at Ballymena, sees Young Enterprise deliver an entrepreneurship masterclass to P6 pupils, who participated in an interactive, business-related competition designed to inspire their creativity and entrepreneurial skills. As part of the Challenge young people formulate business plans, as well as testing their marketing skills by producing a poster and jingle for Moy Park products.

The Young Enterprise ‘Moy Park Challenge’ is in its third successful year and now includes schools in Ballymena for the first time. Pupils attended from Braidside Integrated Primary School, Longstone Primary School, Moorfields Primary School, Portglenone Primary School, Ballykeel Primary School and St Mary’s Primary School.
Mike Mullan, HR Director Europe at Moy Park, welcomed the extension of the partnership to Ballymena. He commented, ‘Moy Park is always keen to support our local communities, and this venture is a great opportunity to engage with young people in a positive and productive way. We are delighted to be working with Young Enterprise on the ‘Moy Park Challenge’ again. Not only does it help our local children understand the role that companies such as ours play in local communities, but we believe it provides a great opportunity to show them how business works and the vast range of interesting and rewarding careers available.’

Carol Fitzsimons, CEO at Young Enterprise Northern Ireland, commented: ‘We are delighted once again to partner with Moy Park in delivering this programme. It is fantastic to see such a successful local business encouraging innovation and would hope that the competition will inspire the next generation of young entrepreneurs, and help them consider self-employment as a viable career option.’
Young Enterprise NI is a charity principally funded by the Department Education with the support of local businesses including Moy Park. The charity delivers practical business education programmes more than 100,000 young people each year in Northern Ireland.
